PIEP to Custom Board Design
Here is a scenario.  Let's say you use PIEP to prototype your product/solution; but, for whatever reason (form factor, price, quantity) you do not plan to ship your product with PIEP.  E3 can take your prototype and develop a single board for your production runs (and the single boards will function using the same components & code you used for the prototype).

Here are the high-level phases of our custom design process.
  • Discovery - We will meet with you (phone/Skype) to review your needs and gather requirements
    • Form factor
    • Processor (likely the same processor used for the prototype)
    • Layers
    • Components
    • Power consumption
    • Etc.
  • Design - We will design the single board and send you electronic files for review (parts id files, schematics, 3D renders) - this may be an iterative process
  • Prototype - We will hand-build the first board and send it to you for review
  • Feedback - You will test the single board prototype and provide feedback
  • Solution refinement (if necessary) - Based on your feedback, we will refine the board and send it back to you for approval
  • Produce boards
    • We will send you the necessary files to have a board manufacturer mass produce your custom board or...
    • We can handle that process for you

Port to PIEP - Evalutation Kits
Do you produce electronic components?  What hardware solution do you use to demonstrate your product(s) to customers and potential customers?  Is it processor independent?  How powerful would it be to be able to ship evaluation kits, highlighting your product, with multiple processors?

PIEP (especially PIEP Mini) might be your answer.  E3 can port your product(s) to PIEP.  To do that, we will put your product(s) (depending on size) on a PIEP peripheral board and marry that board with one or more PIEP processor boards.  You will then have very powerful evaluation kits, with a competitive footprint, that you can give or sell to your customers.  Beyond that, we (E3) may be able to offer your product(s) on one of our peripherals to our customers.  The Port to PIEP process involves many of the same phases listed above.
